SMS Alerts & Consent
FifeRouter can text you when something about your account needs your attention — your balance is nearly gone, or a key was revoked. These are transactional alerts about your own account. We do not send marketing messages, and we never share or sell your number.
Status: not yet live. The alert programme described on this page is registered but not yet switched on, and no phone numbers are being collected. Nobody has been sent a message, and nobody will be until the opt-in described below exists in the dashboard.
Programme name
FifeRouter Account Alerts, operated by FifeRouter,
the provider of the API at api.fiferouter.com.
What we send
Account and service alerts only:
- Low balance — your prepaid credit is nearly exhausted, so requests are about to start being refused.
- Balance exhausted — your credit has reached zero and the API is now refusing requests.
- Spend threshold — your account has passed a spend level you configured.
- Key events — an API key was created or revoked on your account.
- Service incidents — an outage that is affecting your requests.
We do not send promotions, offers or newsletters by text. This programme is account alerts and nothing else.
We do run an email newsletter, which is a separate thing you subscribe to deliberately and can leave in one click. Opting in to it does not opt you in to texts, and opting in to texts does not opt you in to it — the two are never joined, and neither is a condition of the other.
Sample messages
FifeRouter: your credit is down to $4.20. Top up at fiferouter.com/dashboard to avoid refused requests. Reply STOP to opt out.FifeRouter: your balance has reached $0.00 and the API is now refusing requests with a 402. Reply STOP to opt out.FifeRouter: API key "ci-runner" was revoked on your account just now. If this wasn't you, contact security@fiferouter.com. Reply STOP to opt out.
How you opt in
Consent is given by you, deliberately, inside your account. It is never assumed, never bundled with sign-up, and never bought from anyone.
- Sign in and open your dashboard.
- Under Account alerts, enter your mobile number.
- Tick the consent box, which is unchecked by default and reads: "Text me account alerts at this number. Message and data rates may apply. Message frequency varies. Reply STOP to cancel, HELP for help."
- We text a verification code to that number. Entering it confirms both that the number is yours and that you meant to opt in.
Opting in is not a condition of buying anything. You can use every part of FifeRouter without giving us a phone number, and everything we would text you is also visible in the dashboard.
How often
Message frequency varies, because it depends on your own account activity. In normal use this is a few messages per month at most. We rate-limit alerts so that a repeated condition does not produce repeated texts.
Cost
Message and data rates may apply. We do not charge you for alerts; your mobile carrier may. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
How to stop
Reply STOP to any message and we will stop immediately, and send one final message confirming it. You can also turn alerts off, or remove your number entirely, in your dashboard. Opting out of texts does not affect your account, your credit, or your API access.
Reply HELP to any message for help, or write to support@fiferouter.com.
Supported carriers
Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. Delivery depends on your carrier and is not guaranteed, which is why every alert we send is also visible in the dashboard.
Your number
We use your phone number for these alerts and for nothing else. We do not sell it, rent it, or share it for marketing — not with anyone, at any price. It is shared only with the messaging provider that delivers the texts on our behalf. Full detail is in our privacy policy; the terms covering your account are in our terms of use.
